"A tree reaches past your embrace grows from one small seed."

Principles in Sansei

THE UNIVERSITY IS THE DOMAIN OF THE INTELLECT.

THE TEMPLE IS THE DOMAIN OF THE HEART.

THE GYMNASIUM IS THE ARENA OF VITALITY.

ALL THREE ARE FOUND IN THE DOJO

THE JOURNEY BEFORE YOU IS TO REBUILD AND RECONNECT THESE CENTERS SO THAT THEY WORK AS ONE. EACH MUST BE GIVEN ITS EQUAL SHARE, FOR YOU TO FIND "CLEAR SPACE".

LOYALTY

For those of us that practice Karate, as a way of life "Fidelity" is an essential desirable attribute that we live by.  In Sansei it is considered that ungratefulness is the most unforgivable sin. We are concerned with the attitude of man to his fellow man.

Apart from the small monetary consideration involved in joining the organization, the member incurs a responsibility of “high-quality human”.  In terms of loyalty, this means avoiding anything, which might comprise a defamatory account about other members, or otherwise do anything to lower a member in the eyes of others.  Each individual student is a show window of the organization, and slander of the student is slander of the organization and the art.  We in the organization should be more than generous in our desire to help each other progress.  To treat each other with less than deep consideration would be ungrateful.

The statements also apply to the dojo sensei, but in a very special way, since he is a direct link in the centuries-long chain of masters who have transmitted their knowledge and ethics to their students, now passed down to the students of his dojo. I expect all the members of the organization to embody their own integrity, ethics and accomplishments, as well as those of the masters through which you can trace your lineage, and these in turn become Karate tradition for the present day member.  The student who runs his teachers down in the face of his heritage is an ingrate indeed.

Peace of mind is the most sought after 'commodity' in human life. It appears that most of us are in a state of perpetual restlessness. On analyzing the causes of this restlessness, I have ventured to find for myself ten solutions that need to be followed religiously if we are serious about achieving perfect peace of mind.

Do not interfere with others business

Most of us create our own problems by interfering too often in others' affairs. We do so because somehow we have convinced ourselves that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic, and those who do not conform to our thinking must be criticized and steered to the right direction, our  direction.

This kind of attitude on our part denies the existence of individuality and consequently the existence of God, for God has created each one of us in a unique way. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. All men or women act the way they do because they are prompted to do so by the Divine within them. There is God to look after everything. Why are you bothered? Mind your own  your own business and you will have your peace.

Forgive and Forget

This is the most powerful aid to peace of mind. We often nurture ill feeling inside our heart for the person who insults or harms us. We forget that the insult or injury was done to us once but by nourishing the grievance we go on excavating the wound forever. Therefore it is essential that we cultivate the art of forgiving and forgetting. Believe in the justice of God and the doctrine of Karma. Let Him judge the act of the one who insulted you. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. Forget, Forgive and march on.

Do not crave for Recognition

This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motive. They may praise you today because you are rich and have power but no sooner you are powerless, they will  forget your achievement and star criticizing you.

Moreover, no one is perfect. Then why do you value the words of praise of another mortal like you? Why do you crave for recognition? Believe in yourself. People's praises do not last long. Do your duties ethically and sincerely and leave the rest to God.

Don't be Jealous

We all have experienced how jealousy can disturb our peace of mind. You know you work harder than your colleagues in the office but they get promotions, you do not. You started a business several years ago but you are not as successful as your neighbor whose business is only one year old. Should you be jealous? No, remember everybody's life is shaped by his previous Karma that has now become his destiny. If you are destined to be rich, not all the world can stop you. If you are not so destined, no one can help you either. Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere, but will only give you restlessness

Change yourself according to the environment

If you try to change the environment single handedly, the chances are you may fail. Instead, change yourself to suit the environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has remained unfriendly for you, will mysteriously appear to be congenial and harmonious.

Human qualities are something that cannot always be taught. When our parents and teachers brief us about it in our childhood days and try to instill these qualities in us, it is also up to the individual to imbibe them at the same time. In today's fast paced world, many of these human qualities are left far behind. Does that mean this is forgotten once we step out of school? How happy are you with your current situation? When was the last time you actually helped a person by making an extra effort from your side? Do you have more friends on your social networking site rather than in reality? Well, the more you are a part of the rat race, the more these things take a backseat. And somehow, humans don't really act like humans but turn into machines. Here is a concise list of human qualities to help you reach out to people on a personal level and be a good human being.

List of Human Qualities:

Sympathy:
One of the most important of all human qualities is sympathy. Right from our school days, we are taught to be sympathetic towards. Sympathy for others would mean sharing one's feeling of sorrow. Being sympathetic towards a person in difficult time would help to lend that emotional support needed in that period. A sympathetic word or a kind act will help a person to build courage, which will go a long way.

Empathy:
Having empathy for others is a great human quality you can have. Showing empathy towards a person would require you to be open minded and compassionate enough to experience the pain of what somebody else is going through. To instill this quality in you, you would need to let go of your own selfish needs and pay attention to someone else's suffering as if it were your own. This great human quality would help you to establish a deeper connection with people who really need your love and support.

Trust:
To love someone is to trust someone. Trust people you love more openly and watch the difference in your life! The more you develop the ability to trust people, the more complete you would feel! Having faith in a person and building up the trust between people would surely give a whole new meaning to one's life. Often in this rat race, we lose our ability to trust people for our own personal fears.

Morality:
To be a good human being you would also need to have your sense of morality intact. However, this is yet another quality which is often forgotten in our daily lives. To have the quality of morality would make you capable of distinguishing between what is good and evil. It is about practicing the right ethics in your personal as well as professional life. Having your sense of ethics intact would always make you a more responsible human being.

Sense of Humility:
To be humble is a virtue and knowing about this fine human quality and practicing the same in your everyday life would help you to reach a sense of fulfillment. Humility means being humble towards others no matter what the proportions of your wealth or your achievements. A humble person is known by the greatness of his/her acts in helping people rather than harping about materialistic achievements in life.

Forgiveness:
To forgive someone's mistake would take a lot of courage and open mindedness from your side. Forgiveness towards others for theirs selfish and hurtful acts, which may have disturbed you, is a very fine human quality one can have. To forgive such people would give you complete peace of mind instead of nurturing ill feelings towards that particular person. Besides, if a person would ask for forgiveness, it would always be better to forgive a person to keep you happy from within.

Above all, compassion towards each other is essentially needed if you wish to be known as a 'human being'! Compassion for others would only get you more love in return. Love is what would make our life complete and create stronger bonds between family and friends. If you practice having all these qualities in you, chances are, you would always be known as a good human being wherever you go
