As in all schools of Karate, the Kata are designed to teach the practitioner the fundamentals and the practical applications of unarmed combat. Goju-Ryu Karate, as practiced by the World Sansei Koryu Goju-Ryu Karate-Do Organization today, practices and performs the following kata:
Fukyu Kata - Geki Sai Ichi, Geki Sai Ni,
Kihon Kata - Sanchin, Tensho
Kaishu Kata - Saifa, Seiunchin, Senseiru, Shisochin, Sepai, Seisan, Kururunfa, and Suparunpai (Pechurin).
Gekisai Ichi and Gekisai Ni
Students that are 16 years of age will be able to receive Shodan Ho Grade
Senior Black Belt at age of 18 years
National Grading Gashu-Ku to be attended
Minimum 5 Years training
Thesis as by head Office
Written examination prior to examination
Good class attendance
All fees paid up to date
Affiliated to all provincial, national and International Bodies
Grading on written invitation only
Junior and Senior requirements as for Shodan at the descretion of the Dojo Head
All Black Belt Gradings on National level over 5 day Gashu-Ku
Novice and intermediate grading (white to brown belt grading) is the responsibility of the Dojo Head.
Junior and Senior Black Belts ranking Shodan to Sandan must be done by the appointed regional Head with consent of the International Head Office and Executive Committee Members.
Yondan and above Black Belt Grading must be conducted with the International Executive Committee with authorization by Kaicho Manny Saavedra
All Black Belt grading must be done on National and International level and adhered to the rules and regulations regarding Black Belt Ranking as found in the constitution.
